Positive: A delightful 17th century farmstead being loving restored by the owners. the guest house has four bedrooms with luxury en-suite bathrooms and a large sitting/dining/reception room with great character - enormous open wooden beams, staircase, huge open fireplace (not needed this July!) and a modern kitchen to prepare snacks or meals. Breakfast was very generous and comprehensive continental type, fresh bakery and home made jams. Good wi-fi and I found the sitting room a great place to catch up with some work. Location - convenient three hour drive from Caen Ouistreham ferry port, and ten minutes from Tours (and the A10/D910 routes south). A few yards from the Loire river, 20 mins walk from charming town of Luynes which is overseen by it's chateau, charming "Halles" market place and three good restaurants. There is an interesting length of Roman aqueduct just outside the town, still featuring nine arches. The Grange D'Ave would make an excellent base to explore the Loire chateaux and surroundings The farmstead is safe and secluded just off the main road, with good ample parking inside the permieter walls. There is a very discrete sign points to it though my car navigator took me direct to "Grange d'Ave" with no difficulty. Host Etienne helpful and friendly but unobtrusive. Highly recommended either as a one night stop en-route or as a base for a longer holiday in the region
